RE/MAX Associates - El Cajon

El Cajon is the East County's largest city and the site of the East County Performing Arts Center. The Spanish term "el cajon," meaning "the box," is a very fitting description of the broad, level valley. The city limits encompass the greater portion of the valley floor, which historically served as an agricultural and livestock grazing region. The community originated in the 1870s, around the old Knox Hotel, which used to be a stagecoach stop at the corner of Main and Magnolia.

The Rancho San Diego area is a newer area of El Cajon. With the rolling hills in the foreground and rugged mountains in the back, the community basks under a usually clear blue sky and warm sun. Located south of downtown El Cajon, the area is a quick 15-minute drive from downtown or Mission Valley. A variety of housing options surround Cuyamaca Community College, which is the center of Rancho San Diego. Many homes are built on estate-size lots and offer a secure environment.
